Storage Sheds
Storage sheds
have a functional purpose but can also be fun to buy and can be
enjoyed aesthetically year round. They are primarily used to store
unused household items or gardening materials. Lately the American
consumer has come up with a vast range of uses for a common storage
shed. They have been turned into small workshops and getaway craft
rooms for do it yourself types. They are not always known for their
good looks, but storage sheds can be beautiful as well as
functional.
These sheds come in a variety of materials (our site
focuses on wood, vinyl and metal) and pretty much any size you can
need. These are fairly modest structures that are durable, weather
resistant (if treated properly) and some can even be wired for
electricity taking them far beyond the realm of what most of us
consider a proper storage building.
For convenience sake most people will
purchase their sheds at a garden supply store or home improvement
store. These are often the prefab units that can be driven home and
setup in minutes with very little craftsmanship required. Other
people prefer to save money and get storage shed kits so they can
regain some of the manliness of the project. Either way you are
bound to get a good place to store your tools and whatnots as long
as you do your research carefully and get something that is
functional and beautiful.
Things to remember:
- Put your shed on a solid foundation (concrete) away from low
lying areas and flood plains
- If you put up a wood building be sure to treat it for
protection from the elements and insects
- Buy or paint your shed in a complementary or matching color to
the buildings around it
- Carefully consider what you want to store inside so you can
verify your shed is big enough
Generally storage sheds today are built to last a long time. You
get what you pay for, so don't go super cheap or you'll be
replacing your shed within a few years. Our shed products page has
several types available to buy or you can branch out and purchase
others.
